Poetry series on characters from the comics
|
|
Hi everyone.
I’m exploring the various possibilities of poetry; and given the possibilities of the medium (cyberspace) and our times, I thought I’ll try poetry with the world of characters from the comics!
I thought jumping around with Catwoman would make me see the funny side of life, but this did turn out a bit violent - but then I’d rather let each character take me where they want me to go.
I don’t know who the next character will be and where they’ll take me.
But do tell me how you like this.
I’ll have more coming though.
experimentally yours
Raj Arumugam

Meow!
Who’s purring atop your roof, darling?
Whose feet are those you hear -
someone, yeah? -
running swiftly across your gabled roof
and peeping in through your window;
nice bump resting so delicately on your window sill?
You handsome cool guy - who else?
- it’s me, Catwoman, you suave popular man
who breaks women’s hearts and takes them for a ride
and then kicks
them into the gutter;
you pimp who tempts young girls with color and music and lollies
and forces drugs and drinks and alcapop on them
so you can get them to go where you want them to
so you can get them to do with whom you want them to…
Hey, cool baby – who’s that just behind you as you stand before your fireplace
and you rub your hands and you hear a purr? –
Meow! –
and you turn around and you see – yeah, baby –
it’s me, Catwoman, unexpectedly right here behind you;
stealthy as a cat, baby
sexy as a vixen and claws like a tiger's
bite like a lion's –
how does that feel, meatpie?
Now, when I’m done with you, you’re not going to be able to bark or speak;
but then you don’t have to, baby –
cos they’ll all know Catwoman was here
by the love-marks and scratches I'lI leave on your body;
and standing over your shivering limbs
and examining your tongueless mouth
and your empty mind
they’ll all say in whispers:
Catwoman got him;
she’s a terror – but
there ’r things we r’ally don’t know about him
Meow!

feel like reading the lyric of a pop-song in Hollywood movies. So hilarious, appealing to the sense, and so modern.. Congrats... very good. will have more of this.... cheers... kunjubi
